Today is the day of Kobe Valentine Love Run. I have entered this race every year since I moved to Kobe.


To explain this race, I quote my past post.


As its name “UNICEF Cup” suggests, this race is held for supporting activities of UNICEF(United Nations Children’s Fund). A part of our entry fee is contributed to UNICEF. The race is held in Port Island, which I live in, and it takes less than 5 minutes to go from my home to the starting point.


I participated the section of half marathon. We circle the course on the west side of the island twice.


The reception is starting at 8:30.


After that, I once returned my home, because my home is very near. After I returned my home, I checked my number bib and participation prize. And I placed my measuring chip on my shoes.


I left my home again at 9:30 and went to the site. I warmed up before gathering time for half marathon, 9:55. After gathering, we moved to the starting spot. We had to wait the starting time there. This morning was fine weather, but the wind was very cold. Before the starting time, I checked what kind of shoes the other runners wore. Many runners wore the popular "Vaporfly" series of NIKE.


At 10:30, the race started. The opposing wind was stronger than the past races. Besides I felt a pain at my side again. So in the first half of the race, my running pace slowed for a while. After my side pain disappeared, I restored my pace and kept good pace till the finish. When I crossed the finish line, I was surprised at the time by my GPS watch. It was 1:18'38" !! Wow, Sub 80min !! (* Sub 80min : To finish a half marathon within 1 hour 20 minutes)


The official record is 1:18'40" (Gross time). And the ranking is 74th among the 2106 runners. I was able to break into the top 100, as I wrote yesterday.

Mind you, I never took a shortcut. I did run along the right course without a doubt, as you see below.


Mmm....., although Sub 80min was a great result, I can't be simply happy. I have complicated feelings, but I will call myself a sub 80min half-marathoner, because the record is official.
